Onisko & Scholz: top 100 accounting firms to work for
Onisko & Scholz LLP, Certified Public Accountants was recently selected by the accounting industry publication, Accounting Today
as one of the top 100 accounting firms in the nation to work for in
2009. The Long Beach accounting firm joins the ranks of many of the
largest firms in the country including Eisner LLP, J.H. Cohn LLP, and
BDO Seidman LLP by having a workplace environment that responds best to
employee needs.
The award is
remarkable given Onisko & Scholz LLP was formed only five years
ago. The firm has experienced very strong growth since Kim Onisko and
Paul Scholz first merged their CPA practices together in 2004. Onisko
& Scholz LLP is now a full service CPA firm offering accounting,
audit and tax services to small and mid sized companies, non profits,
and individuals. The two principals that lead the 20 person firm have
managed to grow the company during a difficult economy by not losing
sight of what matters most to clients and employees.
The award
was given based on a review of employer policies, practices and
demographics, as well as a survey of employees by Best Companies Group,
an independent professional firm located in Harrisburg, PA. In addition
to being selected as 'Best Accounting Firms to Work for' they were also
selected for 2008 and 2009 as one of the 'Best Places to Work in Los
Angeles County' by the Los Angeles Business Journal.

Public Accountants Recognized as a Best Place to Work in LA by the Los Angeles
Business Journal
Los
Angeles, CA, August 22, 2008: Onisko & Scholz, LLP Certified
Public Accountants was recently named as one of the Best Places to Work in LA
for 2008 by the Los Angeles Business Journal. This countywide survey and
awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of
employment in Los Angeles County, benefiting the region's economy, its
workforce and businesses. The Best Places to Work in LA list is made up of 70
companies split into three groups: 5 small-sized companies (15-24 employees),
50 medium-sized companies (25-249 employees) and 15 large-sized companies (250
or more employees). Onisko & Scholz, LLP Certified Public Accountants has
been named one of the Best Places to Work in LA in the small-sized company
category.
To
be considered for participation, companies had to fulfill the following
eligibility requirements:
- Have at least 15 employees in Los
Angeles County;
- Be a for-profit or not-for-profit
business;
- Be a publicly or privately held
business;
- Have a facility in Los Angeles County;
and
- Be in business for one full year.
Companies
from every industry entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places
to Work in LA. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's
workplace policies, practices and demographics. This part of the process was
worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of
an employee survey to measure employee engagement. This part of the process was
worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined
the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group, a professional
firm located in Harrisburg, PA, managed the overall registration and survey
process and also analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the
final rankings.
Onisko
& Scholz, LLP Certified Public Accountants was recognized and honored at
the Best Places to Work in LA awards reception on Tuesday, August 19, 2008,
hosted by the Los Angeles Business Journal at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in
Downtown Los Angeles. The final rankings were revealed at the lunch gathering
to a crowd of nearly 500 business professionals.
